Psychotherapy is a type of treatment that helps alleviate mental health symptoms, such as depression and anxiety. We will inquire about your situation in a non-judgemental way and with genuine empathy. The goal is to create a safe space where you feel you can bring your whole person in.
Everyone goes through stressful life events, the impact of trauma, medical illness or loss. Therapy can help anyone gain a deeper understanding of themselves. Frances is here to support you every step of the way.
Frances takes a compassionate approach. She will arrange a 15 minutes free consultation with you. She uses gold standard approaches to help you identify the root causes of your condition so you can function better. You will be given some questionnaires before the first meeting so that a case treatment plan will be formulated.
Yes. Frances can directly bill Blue Cross, Greenshield, Canada Life, Dejardins and several other Telus E Claims insurance companies.
No. A psychologist is trained to evaluate a person's mental health and provide therapy. A medical doctor such as a family doctor or a psychiatrist prescribes medications.
The therapist will ask you your life, your story and the reasons that bring you into therapy. The questions will be open-ended and there are no judgements. Some sample questions include:
- Tell me about yourself?
- What are your feelings and thoughts?
- What are your options?
- What has helped you before?
You may be given homework exercises to observe insight and apply the strategies in everyday situations.
